Founder of Phygital International, Dr. René Fasel, and CEO of Phygital International, Nis Hatt, were received by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Olzhas Bektenov, during an official meeting in Astana to discuss the future of phygital sports and upcoming joint initiatives.
The discussion centered on the growth of phygital sports – the pioneering format that blends physical performance with digital technology – as a forward-thinking and highly promising direction in global sport. Both parties acknowledged the transformative potential of this new movement, particularly in engaging younger generations and fostering innovation.
A key highlight of the meeting was the shared vision for Kazakhstan to host the international Games of the Future tournament in 2026. This would mark a significant milestone in the global expansion of phygital sports and position Kazakhstan as a leading player in the international phygital ecosystem.
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerbol Myrzabosynov, confirmed that preparations for the event are progressing according to the approved roadmap. The Kazakhstan Esports Federation also reported that over 1.5 million citizens are actively involved in esports, reflecting a strong and growing foundation for next-generation sporting formats.
Phygital International welcomes Kazakhstan’s commitment and ambition to become a regional hub for phygital innovation. Hosting a global, tech-driven competition such as the Games of the Future in Astana is expected to elevate the profile of hybrid sports and inspire new levels of participation and engagement across the country.
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to deepening cooperation and accelerating the development of phygital sports infrastructure, education, and talent development in Kazakhstan and beyond.
